Be it clowns, dolls, ghosts, or third period, we all have something that scares us. This month, I&#8217;m sharing a few things that might help you get through those not-so-fun scary moments you may be facing as well as a few ideas to bring the silly back to your boo season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/family\/archive\/2020\/02\/sunday-scaries-anxiety-workweek\/606289\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sunday Scaries<\/a>&nbsp;keeping you up? You probably already know that things like exercise, rest, and getting and staying organized can help, but you may also want to consider spending some time sorting out what you can control and what you have to release. Understanding your Circle of Control vs. your Circle of Influence can be a great first step, (I wrote a short piece on the topic for a blog- you can read it&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/center.antioch.edu\/csc\/2023\/10\/08\/going-in-circles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having a plan can help when things get unpredictable. Our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canva.com\/design\/DAFrFAKK7sw\/bmw5O8E_AH81O9_dX-uuEw\/edit?utm_content=DAFrFAKK7sw&amp;utm_campaign=designshare&amp;utm_medium=link2&amp;utm_source=sharebutton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Teachers Guide to Standard Operating Procedures<\/a>&nbsp;will help you help your students plan ahead for sticky situations, creating plans and processes that they can use over and over again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best thing about October, though, is the fun to be had when we hit that &#8220;just right&#8221; spot on the spooky-o-meter. Whether it&#8217;s a not-too-scary<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepioneerwoman.com\/news-entertainment\/g34520594\/kids-halloween-movies-on-netflix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0movie<\/a>, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bookriot.com\/halloween-books-for-adults\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">book for you<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scholastic.com\/teachers\/teaching-tools\/book-lists\/42-fun-halloween-books-for-kids-who-don-t-like-to-be-scared.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0for your kids<\/a>, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/life\/holidays\/halloween-riddles-rcna100279\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">silly riddle<\/a>, or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/recipes\/photos\/halloween-recipes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">something tasty<\/a>\u00a0to share, see if you can find something to bring a bit of October fun to you and your students.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:17% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/54a75c032424f9199b4694465\/_compresseds\/df0603d5-c336-0203-d267-130d5d76a9f8.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Personally, I&#8217;ll be baking pumpkin bread and getting my costume organized.
