{"id":27,"date":"2026-06-29T18:20:02","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T18:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/center.antioch.edu\/writing-center\/?page_id=27"},"modified":"2026-06-29T18:20:42","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T18:20:42","slug":"synchronous-services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/center.antioch.edu\/writing-support\/synchronous-services\/","title":{"rendered":"SYNCHRONOUS SERVICES"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Synchronous Services provide one-on-one, interactive tutoring sessions that enable collaborative feedback, personalized pacing, and real-time clarification of concepts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Synchronous Services are a great support offering for students who prefer individualized tutoring sessions adapted to each learner&#8217;s needs, featuring questions, concept modeling, and championing the creation of independent learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students can schedule 30-, 60-, and 90-minute appointments on <a href=\"https:\/\/antioch.mywconline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">WCOnline<\/a> and work with <strong>Professional and\/or Peer Writing Specialists<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Synchronous services are recommended for all students, especially those:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>returning to college-level writing after a long break<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>with unique learning styles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>who prefer personal contact for additional accountability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>seeking help with assignment dissection, professorial feedback, and revision implementation, critical reading\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students can schedule up to 5 appointments per week, and the appointment intake form allows students to identify specific needs for each appointment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>What to Expect: <\/em>In a Synchronous Writing Session, students should expect to engage in a conversation about their writing and assignments; therefore, work is read live within the session and discussed collaboratively. Professional and Peer Writing Specialists do not proofread or judge student work, and while we assist with revision decisions, Professional\/Peer Writing Specialists do not function as an editing service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BEFORE YOU SCHEDULE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/antioch.mywconline.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">HERE <\/a><\/strong>to create a WCOnline account.
