LaCoya K.G.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Director of Writing Support<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

LaCoya (she\/her) oversees AU\u2019s Writing Support Department and has over 20 years of experience as an educator, administrator, teaching artist, curriculum developer, and editor. With a fierce commitment to issues of social justice, LaCoya has worked with countless middle school, high school, and college students seeking to make pathways to education more accessible. LaCoya\u2019s writing has appeared in anthologies and magazines; she is a Voice of Our Nation Writing Fellow and a frequent guest on literary and writing panels that tackle the intersections of Blackness and the creation of art, writing, and motherhood, and writing as a daughter of the American South. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

LaCoya earned a BA in English from Lake Forest College, where her studies focused on African American Women\u2019s Literature, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of work, she loves making art with her family, traveling, and of course, sinking into a good book.<\/p>\n\n\n

Sarah C.<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Asynchronous<\/em><\/strong> Services, Writing Specialist Coordinator<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarah (she\/her\/ella) oversees the AU\u2019s Writing Support Asynchronous Services and collaborates with peer writing tutors to support student writers across disciplines. She is committed to building accessible, responsive systems that meet students where they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarah brings several years of experience in the University of California system, where she served as a graduate writing center coordinator and supported graduate students through inclusive programming and mentorship in both synchronous and asynchronous settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She earned degrees in Literature and Spanish from Claremont McKenna College and has worked with university students in the U.S. and Mexico as a Fulbright Grantee to strengthen their academic and professional writing. As a first-generation Latina college graduate, her work is grounded in justice, care, access, and student-centered learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of work, she enjoys caf\u00e9 hopping, cooking her grandmother\u2019s recipes, and browsing local bookstores.<\/p>\n\n\n

Tammy C.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dissertation Services, Managing Editor<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tammy (she\/her) is the managing editor at Antioch\u2019s Writers\u2019 Exchange (WEX), where she oversees a team of professional editors and writing coaches who support students at every stage of the doctoral writing process, as well as assists professionals with journal articles, book manuscripts, plays, and other writing projects. As an AU peer writing consultant, Tammy supported graduate students in multiple disciplines and has experience providing writing and editorial support for several nonprofit organizations. Along with her love of reading and writing, Tammy has a passion for nature and authored three children\u2019s books that allowed her to combine her love of science and art. Tammy earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in Psychobiology, a master’s degree in Wildlife Science, and a PhD in Environmental Studies.<\/p>\n\n\n

Wendy VD.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Synchronous Services, Writing Specialist Coordinator<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wendy (she\/her) oversees AU\u2019s Writing Support Synchronous Services and has been working in writing centers for over 20 years as both a student and administrator. Wendy has her PhD from the University of New Hampshire, and she has a variety of research interests, including training writing specialists to work with graduate student genres, GenAI, and student personal narratives. In her spare time, Wendy participates in three book clubs, runs, and hangs out with her husband, Chad, and their gerbils. <\/p>\n\n\n

Professional Writing Specialists<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Professional Writing Specialists are a small team of trained writing tutors who provide synchronous tutoring services. The individuals on this team have terminal degrees in writing, and many are AU alumni. In addition to providing thorough writing support for AU students, faculty, and staff, these specialists are professional writers themselves whose work touches on a variety of genres, including fiction, poetry, and memoir. These specialists are generalist writing tutors equipped to help students, faculty, and staff with a wide range of writing assignments and projects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peer Writing Specialists\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our team of Peer Writing Specialists is a group of AU federal work-study students completing their coursework in a variety of AU graduate programs. These peer specialists receive extensive writing support training, and due to their familiarity with many AU programs and assignments, they provide excellent support for peers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
