The Writers’ Exchange (WEX) offers specialized writing and coaching services for Antioch University students, alumni, faculty, and staff working on longer projects like proposals, dissertations, theses, journal articles, and more.
In the final stages of master’s and doctoral studies, students are required to write extensively to demonstrate their knowledge and research expertise and to have their material ready for publication. Our WEX professional editors and writing coaches understand the complexities of this intellectual enterprise and offer individualized writing support for writing projects at all stages.

WEX Program Format Reviews provide dissertation format editing as the final step before publication. During this review our editors:
- adjust the formatting of final manuscripts according to program handbooks, degree requirements, and style sheets; and
- ensure compliance with major professional formats (APA, Chicago, MLA, and more)
Before requesting dissertation format editing, students are required to:
- Receive content approval from their dissertation chair/program
- Complete an initial required Library Services review
- Complete an initial cross-check of all in-text citations and reference pages

This is an internal process for current AU students ONLY. Students MUST follow the individual program guidelines and deadlines to receive a WEX Program Review.
The individual cost for this service is covered by the specified AU doctoral programs. Students should inquire with their programs for more information.
WEX General Writing Support provides AU students, alumni, faculty, and staff with the opportunity to electronically submit writing projects for feedback and editing at any stage of the writing process. Scheduling live consultations to review work is an option.
WEX General Writing Support services are recommended for students:
- who prefer more support as they write longer form assignments like capstone projects, theses, and dissertations
- who prefer personal contact for additional accountability and support
- with unique learning styles
Note: Students pay upfront and out-of-pocket for WEX General Writing Support services at a rate of $55/hour. Students also have access to FREE general writing support via our Asynchronous and Synchronous services.

WEX Deep Editing Support services provide AU students, alumni, faculty, and staff with the opportunity to schedule time with one of our professional editors for consultations, coaching sessions, and more substantive writing and editing support. This includes:
- outlining and organizing ideas, structure, style, and clarity
- copy editing for writing style, sentence-level revisions like spelling, punctuation, and grammar, transitions, and word choice
- reviewing writing projects that will be submitted to professional and/or new audiences
WEX Deep Editing Support services are often combined with our WEX General Writing Support services and are recommended for students:
- who want to ensure their words convey the intention of their work and research
- who prefer an intensive look at their work
- who prefer more hands-on assistance as they write longer form assignments like capstone projects, theses, and dissertations
- who are struggling with professorial feedback and revision implementation
- who prefer personal contact for additional accountability and support
Note: Students pay upfront and out-of-pocket for WEX Deep Editing services at a rate of $65/hour.

WEX Dissertation Format Correction services provide the final format corrections of the full manuscript, post-defense. This service is only for students who have defended, submitted their committee-approved dissertation to their program librarian, and had WEX complete the first program format review. Professional editors implement all required final format corrections on the student’s behalf. Dissertation Format Corrections services DO NOT include adding missing references, verifying in-text citations, and any other items that only authors can address.
