The Writers’ Exchange (WEX) offers specialized writing and coaching services for Antioch University students seeking to refine and finalize their capstone projects, theses, and dissertations.
In the final stages of master’s and doctoral studies, students are required to write extensively to demonstrate their knowledge and research expertise and to have their material ready for publication. Our WEX professional editors and writing coaches understand the complexities of this intellectual enterprise and help students by offering the following services:
WEX Program Reviews provide dissertation format editing where our editors and writing coaches:
- adjust the formatting of final manuscripts according to program handbooks, degree requirements, and style sheets; and
- ensure compliance with major professional formats (APA, Chicago, MLA, and more)
Before requesting dissertation format editing, students are required to:
- Receive content approval from their dissertation chair/program
- Complete an initial required Library Services review
- Complete an initial cross-check of all in-text citations and reference pages
Note: This is in an internal process for current AU students ONLY. Students MUST follow the individual program guidelines and deadlines to receive a WEX Program Review.

WEX General Writing Support provides AU students, alumni, faculty, and staff with the opportunity to schedule individual 30, 60 or 90-minute sessions with a professional WEX writing coach to receive support at any stage of the writing process. In interactive sessions, the WEX writing coach and students can broadly discuss elements of writing, like:
- Brainstorming, outlining, organization, content clarity, specificity of research design and methods, etc.
- Set personal writing goals and a deadline
- Review drafts/sections of the student’s assignment
WEX General Writing Support services are recommended for students:
- who prefer more hands-on assistance as they write longer form assignments like capstone projects, theses, and dissertations
- who prefer personal contact for additional accountability and support
- with unique learning styles
Note: Students pay upfront and out-of-pocket for WEX General Writing Support services at an average rate of $55/hour. Students also have access to FREE general writing support via our Asynchronous and Synchronous services.
WEX Deep Editing Support services provide AU students, alumni, faculty, and staff with a meticulous review of their work. Our professional editors dive deep into the student’s writing and offer:
- line-by-line feedback related to thesis statement, organization, structure, style, and clarity
- copy editing for writing style, sentence-level revisions like spelling, punctuation, and grammar, transitions, and word choice
WEX Deep Editing Support services are often combined with our WEX General Writing Support services and are recommended for students:
- who want to ensure their words convey the intention of their work and research
- who prefer an intensive look at their work
- who prefer more hands-on assistance as they write longer form assignments like capstone projects, theses, and dissertations
- struggling with professorial feedback and revision implementation
- who prefer personal contact for additional accountability and support

WEX Dissertation Format Correction services provide the final format corrections of the full manuscript, post-defense. Instead of students completing this tedious work at the end of their program, Professional editors implement all required final corrections on the student’s behalf. Dissertation Format Corrections services DO NOT include adding missing references, verifying in-text citations, and any other items that only authors can address.
